Doodle-a-Day

Hello!

I don't know if I have ever mentioned this, but I am a big fan of handmade stuff. Gifts especially! And so, this is a gift to myself from me. Anyway, I had been thinking of starting this project (Doodle-a-Day) since a very long time, never really did anything to make it happen though. But, I have finally decided to make shit happen cause I REALLY WANT TO. The project is basically a journal where I'll be recording memorable parts of my day in the form of doodles, everyday. Yes, I have promised myself this and I shall keep it.

Also, the book 'An Illustrated Life' By Danny Gregory, has been a great inspiration to make me want to execute it. For those who don't know what it is about, it's a book with illustrations from the journals of amazing artists/designers from all over the world. It's beautiful. Following is a picture of one of the pages also a motivation for people who think they "can't draw" (pssh) to consider keeping a journal like this too. EVERY.ONE.CAN.DRAW.

And this is Day 1 of my Doodle-a-Day:

Just imagine, by the end of the month, I'm going to have my month recorded and drawn in my journal, to remember for life. Makes me so excited! =)

You should try too.

XOXO,

What Do We Got?

Mom: What do you want for dinner/lunch/breakfast?
Me: I don't know. What do we got?

Much like THIS from Two And A Half Men.

She gets annoyed, I get entertained. And then, when I know what options I've got, I can filter what I do not want from what I wouldn't mind having/want to have. Can you relate? I think you can! Or are you one of THOSE who always know what they want, always pre-planning, organizing types? ugh.

Never mind, moving on..  So, that was a What-do-you-want-short-term question. As you grow up, people start asking you the same question but with reference to the FUTURE (your life). Future. Life. Plans. Ambitions. Achievements. Responsibilities. Money. Family. Security.. Uff! STAAAAAAAAAP.
But, I have decided, every time someone asks me this question "What do you want in life?"
THIS (1:45) is what I'm gonna say. Especially the drink part. Oh Bollywood, you have the answers to all of life's questions! *Bear hug*

But the reality is, you don't/can't always have all the answers. Life is a journey (Clichedotcom). It is though. You don't know what's out there for you. How can you be deciding what you want when you don't even know what all is out there? You don't know whether all the options have been laid out in front of you. How can you know what you want if you're subjected to limited perspective? So, that's when you use the Filter Method. Knowing what you want is not easy, but knowing what you do not want is very do-able. Life is messy, and figuring out what you want is a life-long process. A work-in-progress for life.
So, don't beat yourself up over not knowing what you want. That's just silly! (And, I've been there)
But, I've come to realize that I don't have to figure it all out RIGHT NOW. Cause I won't.
Being patient and keeping realistic expectations is key (I suck at them, but HEY, I try!).

Trial and Error is my method of choice and honestly, there's no other way I'd rather go. Noting things down (epiphanies), Self-awareness, Reflecting on things as you experience them, etc. are the tools needed on your way to building the answer to the Million Dollar Question. In the end, it's just YOU who can figure your "life" ish out, so taking good care of yourself and loving yourself is DUH, CRUCIAL!
Do-it do-it.

And, if you've already figured what you want in life, etc. well, you're in for a BIG surprise, my friend. Cause, the world is not a wish granting factory (Whaddup TFIOS reference!)
Don't worry, for dealing with those situations here's what you do, just yell "PLOT TWIST!" and Move. The. Eff. On. Also, remember this: I TOLD YOU SO! :p

Yes, I love you too!

Share. Love.

As you might already know/have experienced when you reach your mid 20s,life is gets intenser (?). Or so you feel. Friends move places, get jobs in different parts of the world (Why God, WHY?), you're involved in a pretty serious relationship, meeting your boyfriend's/girlfriend's parents (Jesus!), more and more people you know seem to be getting married, cousins have babies, you're an uncle/aunt to nephews/nieces, and so on.. Basically, you suddenly realize you've GROWN UP (maybe not mentally). And so have your friends/family.
More responsibilities.

Anyway, the point was not to freak you out, but just my way of telling you that my cousin is getting married and I am pretty excited. I have been loaded with many "responsibilities", one of them being designing a 'Save the date' for the couple. While I was at it, I found this pretty cool site for Beautiful Fonts. The layout of the website, the description and classification of the type of fonts you're looking for is quite impressive. Good stuff!
Well done, Adobe. I'm eternally thankful to you for the
Adobe Creative Suite. *BIG HUG*

Talking about the Suite, the following wouldn't exist if it weren't for you, Adobe.

By me

So, that's just a teaser of course, the one we'll send out will not be blurred. Once again, thank you, Adobe.
You have my whole heart, for my whole life. Just keep getting awesomer. :D

Anyway, it makes me really happy when I find something inspiring while just randomly searching for something online. And while most of us want to keep the good stuff to ourselves, ME, being the very kind person I am (OK, sometimes I really am) would like to share it with you nice people out there.
Also, in return I'd like you to do the same too! It's a cycle really. You inspire me, I inspire you.
Welcome to an awesome world!

Be sharing, be inspiring, be loving.

P.S. If quarter-life crisis give you a hard time, just listen to Queen B. *slow claps to that*

Love, S.

It's time

"It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
That I'm never changing who I am"

Holy Mothers Of Colors

CMYK'd self. Why? Because I can. I do a lot of things simply because I CAN. Also, the fact that CMYK is the language designers talk in and so do the printers.
Like, A: "What color are your hair?"
        B: "My hair is 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 1.00."

IF you want to understand this further OR you're a curious case and want to learn about the brilliant world of colors.. THIS, is for you. You're welcome! :)
Everything printed is made up of CMYK.
Since we're on this topic, here's another cool place inspired by them four. It's called 'CMYK Book Store'!
It is a treasure trove for the cooler people who are looking for books that reflect an in-depth knowledge of the art and design spheres.
What you see below is an awesome illustrated map to get to CMYK book store, Mumbai. MUST. VISIT. They also have stores in Delhi and Pune!

Well, I hope I enlightened the un-enlightened and made some of you shrug? Mission accomplished.

Happy CMYK'ing,
LOVE, S.

Make It A Word

So, I've been well busy with work and managed to pay zero attention to my "precious" blog (Refer previous post). But, but, but no more, people. NO. MORE. I've decided to blog at least, at least once a month. Hey! I said AT LEAST. So, here's to self-motivation!

Well, I know it's not a word, but we'll make it a word.

Cheers to un-procrastination *avoids the red underline*

Because, Tradition!

Hello!
I just can't let my blog die. Well, not yet. It's precious. To me.
And to whoever you are out there, reading, following, blog hopping. YES?
I hope so.
That's exactly why I couldn't ditch my tradition of posting every Valentine's Day. :)

Quotes from a bunch of my favorite hopeless romanticism defining movies.
THERE!

Happy Valentine's Day! (Better late than never.)

Love & Love,
S
