So I went to the Kalaghoda Arts Festival today, and like always, it filled my soul with a lot of awe. But every year, I see these people. People who don't appreciate the art, who mock the artists (behind their backs, of course), who attend the fest only to take selfies/photographs with the installations only to get 'likes' on their various social media profiles.. I get annoyed and disappointed by these people, every year. It's ok to take pictures/selfies,.. that's not what annoys me, but it's the lack of appreciation. Do they know how much effort, hard work, time and energy goes into making every art installation? Today, there were so many people taking pictures with the installation without giving a damn about the installation. Who made it? Why did they make it? What does it reflect?
Anyway, this couple you see in the picture, the girl stamped on the wooden plank of the installation and it broke a little, there was one more group of college girls who broke the foot of a horse installation while taking a group photo. You broke it by mistake, you could be forgiven only if you realized your mistake and felt guilty for doing it. They didn't. They laughed, and continued taking pictures.
WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU? It broke my heart, for the people who invested in that installation. I would cry if any of my digital artworks would get deleted/ill-treated by someone, because it's precious. Every artwork is precious. Anyway, the point is don't let people do this. And if you're one of these people, shame on you, don't do this. Appreciate it. From a distance. Respect someone's effort and emotions attached with the work they produced. Please. Thanks!
